Exodus 17:8-13
In the days of the early church,
the number of people grew so fast
the apostles were overwhelmed with leadership
responsibilities. Their main task was
administering the Word to the people, but
the people, especially widows, needed
other care, too. The Lord instructed
them to get some faithful men to help with that.
Those dedicated men took care
of other ministries so the apostles could
do what they were called to do.
It is commonly accepted that those men
in Acts 6, were the first deacons.
Much of the Lord's work is done with
the support of others. Pastors
need helpers. Teachers often need helpers.
In order to keep other ministries going
and successful, people hold up the hands
of others by using technology, making church
visits, doing secretarial work, prayer, and much more.
Moses helped Joshua and the warriors
by holding up his hands toward heaven.
Aaron and Hur helped Moses
by holding his arms up.
In what ways are you “holding
up the arms” of the ministry?
If you can’t think of anything, just
ask the pastor or one of the teachers
how you might be of help to them.
Prayer: Thank you Lord, for your power and wisdom.
Also, thank you for those who share
in the ministry by supporting the pastors,
staff, teachers, and missionaries,
as they do their work, too.
P.S. Before the pandemic, we had a church website
and Facebook page, but rarely used either
for much more than a calendar and announcements.
As soon as we learned that we would not
be meeting together in our church building
for a while, we made some adjustments.
From the first Sunday of the shut-down on,
we have had a Sunday morning message
on YouTube and daily devotions linked
to our website and printed in booklets
for some who do not have internet.
Several stepped up to help this
pastor make these a reality.
Without their help, these worship and
learning opportunities would not have happened!
